Yes.

Admission is granted on the basis of an entrance examination conducted by the school. Overseas students may be granted admission based on evidence of exceptional academic performance in their previous school. Meritorious students from good Indian Schools having a satisfactory academic record may be granted direct admission provided they submit the last two years certified mark sheets from their present schools.

The ratio is 1:30. The school is very particular that each student be provided individual care and attention at all times.

The Doon International School, City Campus is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The Doon International School, Riverside Campus is affiliated to CBSE as well as IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education).

The school students have consistently achieved 100% results in the Board exams conducted by the CBSE.The school is recognized as a Centre for Academic Excellence and a large number of students regularly clear Competitive Exams like IIT, NEET, JEE, CLAT etc. and enter reputed Universities in India and abroad.

Yes, the school has a collaboration with Allen Coaching Classes, Kota for students who want to opt for preparation for NEET/JEE etc.

Students at DIS are encouraged to participate in a diverse co-curricular and academic curriculum, exposing them to the right, age appropriate opportunities in order to develop their creativity, self-expression, team work, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

The school has constituted all relevant committees to resolve the grievances of students in accordance with the CBSE norms.

The school students may choose from a wide variety of sports and games. These include cricket, football, badminton, table tennis, basketball, athletics, volleyball, skating, yoga, and martial arts like Karate/ Taekwondo. A team of trained state and national level coaches provide guidance to the students to enable them to excel in various sports and games. Every year, the school students also compete in district, state and national level competitions.

The school program includes a wide variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities such as an extensive sports program, music and dance, Model United Nations, art and craft, debating, dramatics, quiz/ nature/photography clubs, excursions etc.

The school has a resident medical assistant, a doctor on call and several medical specialists for expert medical care and advice. A well-furnished infirmary is located within the school campus with all necessary medical aid and beds for sick students.

The summer vacations are from Mid-May till the first week of July. The winter vacations are from mid- December till late -January

Yes. The school organizes air and rail bookings for students. A member of the school staff also escorts and receives the boarding students at the New Delhi Airport. School bus facility is provided for students who want to travel up to New Delhi and back. Students are accompanied by a male and a female staff member to escort them to Delhi and back to Dehradun after vacation.

Yes, the school has a huge fleet of well-equipped buses with speed governors, GPS and CCTVs. The school bus facility is optional and is available for all major routes and localities of the city for day scholars. The bus students are accompanied by teachers, and by male as well as female bus attendants to ensure their safety.

Remedial classes by teachers are held every day in the mornings and evenings for the boarders.

Certain age appropriate activities are organized in the campus and students are also taken out for day trips/picnics/movies/ lunch outings to reputed restaurants and resorts.

Residential students are sent for outings once in a month and are escorted by hostel wardens/ teachers in the school transport. The school also organizes optional International Educational Tours for the students every year.

Parents/ local guardians are allowed to meet their wards on Sundays/ Holidays. Parents can also take their children on the second or last Fridays of the month (after school at 3 pm) for night outings and drop them back by 6 pm on Sunday.

All hostels are equipped with landline phones and the boarders are permitted to speak with their parents for 20 mins a week. The phones are open for students for calling (only parents on two registered phone numbers) from 8 pm to 9 pm daily.

Additionally, the parents are kept well informed about the behavior and progress of their wards.

At the end of each term, the school holds the Parent Teachers Meeting, wherein the parents can interact one to one with the subject teachers; in addition to Parent Teacher Meetings, the School Mobile Application i.e. Schoolpad has a feature which allows the parents to communicate with the Principal/ Teachers (whenever required). The school regularly uploads the periodic exams progress report cards of the boarders for their parents to view on the Schoolpad app. The final exam report card is also sent by registered post to the parents at the end of the academic year.

Every hostel is equipped with desktops for the usage of resident students. However, mobile phones are strictly banned for students as the boarders are allowed to call their parents on regular basis from the phones installed in the hostels. LED televisions, age appropriate magazines and daily newspapers are available to the boarders in the hostels for during their leisure time.

The boarding students are allotted individual beds, cupboards and study tables in 4, 6, 8 occupancy rooms/ dormitories as per their age group, study routines/ class projects etc.

Dedicated hostel wardens/ matrons along with school compounder, ward boys, ayahs and other hostel staff take care of the resident students.

Yes, the girl’s and boy’s hostels are in completely separate campus compounds. The junior school boy’s hostel (for boarders up to class 5) is also in a separate dedicated hostel building.

The school operations are efficiently managed by a team of well qualified, dedicated and experienced team of administrators comprising of the school Chairman, Directors, Principal, Vice-Principal, Head of Administration, Coordinators and Supervisors.

English and Hindi are the commonly used languages in the school premises.

Yes. There are plenty of hotels located near the school campus.

The academic blocks, mess and hostels are well equipped with 24 hrs CCTV surveillance to monitor the safety of students. All the gates of the school buildings are well guarded 24X7 by ex-army guards from a reputed security agency. Fire-arms, drugs, alcohol and smoking are strictly banned inside the school campus. Ragging, bullying and corporal punishment are not permitted to ensure the well-being and safety of the boarders. Additionally, boarders are always escorted by a member of the school staff.

A marginal fee rebate is granted to siblings.

The school offers part scholarships to deserving students who excel in academics.

Doon International School, City Campus is located in a posh locality of Dehradun i.e. Dalanwala (Landmark: Next to Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital), just two kilometers from the Clock Tower and the Railway Station.

All three modes of transport are available from all major cities of India to Dehradun city which is the capital of Uttarakhand. The school campus is centrally located and the railway station is at a distance of 2.5 kms; ISBT is at a distance of 8 kms; and the airport is at a distance of 25 kms from the school campus.
