Doon International School Structure
The Junior School
(Class Nursery-V)
The junior school is the first step forward for our little ones as they enter Nursery class. The basic inputs that the child has been provided at the formative stage are consolidated at this level as the student becomes capable of understanding basic concepts of the various subjects. The classrooms and infrastructure have been carefully selected to ensure that the sense of belonging created in the early years carries on with the child as he/she moves to the junior school. Various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are introduced at this level and the children are encouraged to explore their creativity and individual talent.
The Middle School
(Class VI to VIII)
When the child enters Class VI, the school helps him/her make the transition from a protected environment to one where he/she develops his/her individuality and personality. The child is also encouraged to develop his/her interest in specific subjects as per his/her aptitude and potential so that in the later years he/she may specialize in his/her chosen areas. The subjects are taught by specialist teachers trained specifically for teaching particular subjects. The curriculum includes English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Arts, Music, Dance and a third language such as French, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Urdu etc.
The Senior School
(Class IX to XII)
In the Senior School, students must prepare for the first major examination of their life, the CBSE Board Examinations of Class X and XII. At this level, the school strives to provide a scholarly yet stress-free environment to enable the student to achieve their goals and reach the bench marked standards.
The teachers at this stage are recognized experts in their subjects so that the students can be provided every opportunity to excel at their academics. The senior school children also take the first step into adulthood and need adequate guidance and counseling from all concerned, hence the teachers are encouraged to be their friend, philosopher and guide. The school offers specialized courses of study in class XI and XII so that the students can be prepared for the careers that they wish to pursue later in life. Senior school students are encouraged to set career goals for themselves; hone their learning and study skills as well as their interpersonal and leadership abilities. In the area of career enhancement, students have opportunities to connect with mentors through our Career Counseling and Life-skills program, run by qualified professional teams.
